Rather, I have been looking for a generic driver for my cam that would be supposed to work on linux, but failed to find one. But since it's all done thru Wine, i won't even try to find a workaround to that. I have tried at this for several days now, at one point when I was trying to fiddle with the You Cam settings, the webcam light turned on for aprox. But before the setup completes fully, I get a message that this driver can only be installed on a HP machine, well, my comp is a HP g6-2333er. Just purchased my new Pavilion dv7, and when I run the You Cam software, it tells me my HP TrueVision HD webcam is not detected. My webcam is a HP Truevision HD that works fine with Skype or VLC, but today I have tried to give Wine a go because I can't live without VirtualDub and whatever the virtualdub version, regardless whether VFW or DirectShow, the program says it cannot connect to the required driver.Īfter googling for clues, I have decided to download and install the Cyberlink Youcam program from HP's site, basically the driver I should have installed if running Windows on the same comp, and so I installed it thru Wine obviously too. I'll probably be opening a can of worms here, but still, i have to ask.
